After offering a horsebox hire service for some months now we have noticed there is a small amount of horse owners who did not want to hire a horsebox for the full day in order to transport their horse to their desired event. Their horse transport / horsebox hire requirement was only for apx 4 hours of the day in order to transport their horse to a lesson or to travel a horse locally to a new yard or to the vets... with this in mind Robertson Horsebox Hire (part of Robertson Horse Transport) is now offering half day and evening horsebox hire
see our website for more info

Robertson Horse transport at The New Forrest

As we have taken several trips down to the New Forrest lately we thought we would publish some info on the native breed to that area:
This blog is the property of Robertson Horse Transport

The New Forest Pony is one of the recognised mountain and moorland or native pony breeds of the British Isles. Height varies from around 12 hands (48 inches, 122 cm) to 14.2 hands (58 inches, 147 cm); all heights should be strong, workmanlike, and of a good riding type. They are valued for hardiness, strength, and surefootedness.

The breed is indigenous to the New Forest in Hampshire in southern England, where equines have lived since before the last Ice Age; remains dating back to 500,000 BC have been found within 50 miles (80 km) from the heart of the modern New Forest. Many breeds have contributed to the foundation bloodstock of the New Forest pony, but today only ponies whose parents are both registered as purebred in the approved section of the stud book can be registered as purebred. The New Forest pony can be ridden by children and adults and can be driven in harness.

Ponies grazing on the New Forest are owned by New Forest commoners – people who have "rights of common of pasture" over the Forest lands; an annual marking fee is paid for each animal turned out to graze. The population of ponies on the Forest has fluctuated in response to demand for youngstock. Numbers fell to fewer than 600 in 1945 but have since risen steadily, and thousands now run loose in semi-feral conditions.

Looking for affordable way to Transport your horse(s) short distance /  locally?
Looking to move yards, go to a show or visit a park for a days riding?
Often employing a Horse transporter for a short distance run can be quite costly especially if there is going to be any waiting around, as there would be for a day out or a competition / event.
Hiring a horsebox is a fantastic option.

Many horse owners also like the flexibilty of Hiring a horsebox, you can keep to your own schedual and take your time.
Robertson Horse Transport Have 3.5 ton Horseboxes available for hire:
The beauty of this size of horsebox is that it can be driven on a normal car license and are cost effective on fuel unlike larger horseboxes and horse trailers.

Horse Transport – Thorough bred mare to stallion at stud

3/14/2012

My favorite work is always going to be with the thorough bred horses, I have a real passion for them and have bred and trained some of my own… two of which are still on my partner’s livery yard with their new owners who adore them!

Horse transport for Thorough bred mares going to a stallion is in high demand as AI is not allowed in the racing industry. The mare has to be covered “naturally” by the stallion and due to the extremely high value of both horses the covering process is  somewhat of an artform. The mare gets scanned to check if she is at the right stage in her cycle, the stud contact the horse transporter and give him a rough estimate of when the mare will need to go to the stallion. This is followed up with another scan to ensure the mare is definitely ready to go to the stallion and when she is the horse transporter has to take her to the stallion straight away.

A tricky business for horse transport but fantastic work none the less!

Today I took a beautiful bay mare from beechwood grange stud to a stallion standing in Newmarket at Cheveley Park stud.
